Old Testament Studies II

Dr. Keith Essex of The Master's Seminary teaches through the Latter Prophets and the Writings: Isaiah, Jeremiah, Ezekiel, the Book of the Twelve, and then Psalms, Job, Proverbs, the Song of Songs, Ecclesiastes, Lamentations, and Daniel.

This course completes the journey through the Hebrew Bible that Old Testament Studies I began. Dr. Keith Essex first walks through the Latter Prophets, Isaiah's vision of the Holy One and his Servant, Jeremiah's new covenant, Ezekiel's departing and returning glory, and the twelve prophets read as one book, and then turns to the Writings: the Psalms as the prayer book of those awaiting the kingdom, Job and Proverbs and Ecclesiastes as the school of wisdom, the Song of Songs, Lamentations, and finally Daniel's sweep of history to the end of the days.

Each lecture below is a full seminary class session, and each has its own page with the video, a study sheet that walks the lecture section by section, links to every Scripture passage discussed, key terms, a comprehension check, discussion questions, and a printable PDF.

The course begins where the prophets do, with what a prophet is and how Isaiah saw the Holy One of Israel. Each lecture builds on the last, so start at the beginning and work through in order.
