This is the fifth course of The Theology Program, a full curriculum in Christian theology taught at the classroom level for ordinary church members. C. Michael Patton and Rhome Dyke spend ten sessions on the doctrine of salvation from every side: the order of salvation and the question of where God’s work ends and ours begins, election argued honestly from both the Calvinist and Arminian chairs, the church’s long struggle to understand the atonement from the earliest theories to penal substitution, the extent of the atonement, calling, regeneration, and conversion, the doctrine of justification that divided the Reformation from Rome, the five views of sanctification, and the great final question of whether a believer can lose salvation, with the warning passages given their full weight before they are answered.
